Field trips to the
High Museum of Art.
A fine art education isn’t complete without understanding art appreciation and history. We encourage the students to learn as much as possible about the techniques, applications, and history of past and present professional artists.

Once again, we are returning to the High Museum of Art. The purpose of this field trip is for students to understand the methods of past and present artists by viewing the artworks personally. Instructors will lead groups through the museum and explain the techniques used to create the magnificent art we will view. Understanding the art history and drawing from sculptures and paintings are essential ways to appreciate fine art. Please mark this date on your calendar; you do not want to miss it! This class is open to all students and their families & friends. An adult must accompany children 7 years old and under. The traveling exhibition is the work of Amy Sherald, the painter of Former First Lady Michelle Obama. Everyone will need tickets for this special exhibition. The price for the Sherald Exhibition is $21.15. The deadline to register is Saturday, May 23rd. Please note that we will be closed for group classes the week of May 26th due to the museum class.
Please note that we will need chaperones who can transport students who don’t have a ride to the museum due to their parents’ work schedules. If you need transportation, please see the studio director. You must arrive at the studio by 8:45 a.m., and we will leave sharply at 9:00 a.m., arriving at the museum by 10:00 a.m. The tour will end at 1:00 p.m. Barring unforeseen events, we should be returning to the studio between 2:00 - 2:30 p.m. Please check your email for additional information.
This is not just a field trip; it's a class! Active participation is key to a student’s education in fine arts. If you cannot attend the field trip, you can arrange a make-up class with the student's instructor at the studio. Please be sure to bring a sketch pad, #2 pencil, and eraser.
